Now this is a cool one. Siteimprove, a website improvement company for whom I’ve done a lot of contract copywriting, asked me to create a fictional company whose website they could use to demonstrate their services. I got to make up Quant, a financial software business complete with company history, product line, employee bios, blog posts, etc. Siteimprove then added misspellings, broken links, and other mistakes to my copy in order to demonstrate how their tools locate errors on their customers’ sites. I like to say that for one month at least, I was a full-time, professional fiction writer.
